Atlantic/Pacific first US show in NYC on April 15th

Really the title and picture says it all. Atlantic/Pacific will play their first US show ever at The Delancey in New York City on April 15th. Just in case you are not paying attention Atlantic/Pacific is the latest project from Garrett Klahn (Texas Is The Reason), Sergie Loobkoff (Samiam, Knapsack) and John Herguth (House & Parish).

If you know what's good for ya, you would listen to some of their killer tunes here.

Sigur Ros frontman to release side project!

Sigur Ros singer Jon Þor Birgisson, and his longtime partner, Alex Somers are releasing an album under their Riceboy Sleeps moniker on July 20th (in Europe), from Parlaphone Records. (No word yet on a North American release.)

The pair have exhibited their artwork before, and included album track Happiness to the Dark Was The Night compilation, but finally we have news of an album.

Largely an instrumental affair (Jonsi doesn't sing), it'll run 68 minutes and nine songs. It was "played solely on acoustic instruments in Iceland (and featuring long-time string collaborators Amiina, as well as the Kopavogsdaetur choir) and then endlessly toyed with on solar-powered laptops in a raw food commune in some far corner of Hawaii," according to their press release.

Tracklist below:

Riceboy Sleeps:
01. Happiness
02. Atlas Song
03. Indian Summer
04. Stokkseyri
05. Boy 1904
06. All the Big Trees
07. Daniell in the Sea
08. Howl
09. Sleeping Giant

Based on the videos above, should prove to be just as beautiful as Sigur Ros. Get excited folks.

Frontier(s) sign to Arena Rock

With their debut 7" from No Sleep headed our way in the Summer, Frontier(s) has now signed with Arena Rock Recording Company as the home of their full length which they hope to release this Fall.

As you more than likely already know, Frontier(s) is the latest reincarnation of Chris Higdon who most know from his days with the band Elliott. If you can't wait til Summer or even Fall for a taste of their music, fear not, the Louisville, Kentucky powerhouse are currently streamming a handful of rough cuts that can be heard here.

Pinback joins the Temporary Residence family

With the recent news of Touch and Go Records closing their manufacturing and distribution divisions, the label has annouced that they will not release new albums but strictly focus on their back catalog. San Diego musicmakers Pinback have now left the home of their last two albums to explore a new world with Temporary Residence. Rob Crow, one half of Pinback, is no stranger to the Brooklyn label that has released his last three solo records. Pinback hopes to make their Temporary Residence debut with a new record out sometime in 2010.
