Jason Frederick channels a bit of 'Murder City' with Cool Devices

I wonder if Spencer Moody knew he has spawned an evil step child. At least that is what it seems while listening to Cool Devices, the latest from rocker Jason Frederick, previously of the Columbus, Ohio band The Means. With his latest reincarnation, the singer/songwriter has created a sound that would make the Murder City Devils proud.

Take a listen for yourself if you don't believe me. Hell, you can even legally download Cool Devices debut EP for frizzle by heading over to Rock Proper. So really what are you waiting for? Make sure you take the time to blast every single track on the 7-song EP figuring album closer 'Someone Stop Them', a Refused inspired punkfest, is a absolute beast!

Stratford 4's Chris Streng goes lofi with his latest 'The Dazzling Strangers'

Chris Streng used to rock out in the Stratford 4 who put out two record on  JetSet Records not too mention a handful of self-released records. Stratford 4 was set to release another album in 2004 produced by Ric Ocasek but sadly the band split and the final record Keep Your Crazy Head On Straight was left in limbo. Chris now takes things down a notch to a more lofi sound as The Dazzling Strangers.

Thus far the band has self-released one record The Stars are Ours with a follow up album entitled Home on the Strange set for this Summer. An album in between these two is discussed on their myspace page called An Hour of Frogs, however, it is written as "an hour long field recording of the deafening frog revelry that happens in the early Winter in the Sierra Foothills" so one can take this information as he/she sees fit. Whatever it may be, Streng mentions that it will be included as a bonus disc with the release of Home on the Strange.

For a little sample of what Chris Streng and The Dazzling Strangers have up their sleeve check out a little music here.

Passion Pit reveals video for 'The Reeling'

The 80s revival dance-synth band Passion Pit have outdone themselves with their latest video the first single off this year's Manners, which is set for a May 26th release in the States (the UK release will drop a week earlier on May 18th). The full length is a follow-up to their critically acclaimed 2007 Chunk of Change EP.

Check out the killer video for 'The Reeling' below and travel back two decades to the days when Ronald Regan was president, all your friends were wearing glitter sparkling jelly shoes, and everyone suffered from Pac-Man fever.
