The title says it all, really. The Jealous Sound has decided to tease listeners with their new track Got Friends. Listen now. *UPDATE* Unfortunately, the track has been pulled.

Hello, My Name is...Ghost Wars

Juno was an insanely talented indie band formed in Seattle in the mid-90s. While the band stayed together for just about a decade, they sadly only released to full length records: This Is the Way It Goes and Goes and Goes in '99 and A Future Lived in Past Tense two years later. As with most great bands, the members of Juno even reunited to play a handful of shows years after their split. Vocalist Arlie Carstens has since been working on a new project - Ghost Wars.
With Ghost Wars, I say project because this baby is essentially a group effort. The main maestros pulling the strings are Arlie Carstens, Eric Fisher, and Nate Mendel (ex-Sunny Day Real Estate/Foo Fighters), however, a who's who of indie musicians have worked together to make this project possible. Morgan Henderson (Blood Brothers), Jay Clark (Jaguar Love/Pretty Girls Make Graves/Killsadie), Gabe Carter (Juno), Fasil Debeb (Recall Seven), Eric Akre (Heather Duby), Jason McGerr (Death Cab For Cutie), David Broecker (Juno/The Prom/John Vanderslice), John Davis (Q and Not U), Drew O'Dougherty (ex-Ted Leo & The Pharmacists), Corey Murchy (Minus The Bear), and Goth Joel (Suffering and The Hideous Thieves) just to name a few of those involved.
While unfortunately only four tracks are readily available, what they have given us thus far is truly something beautiful. As of March of this year, Carstens has stated that he was in the process of recording more tracks as he travels Canada, Germany, the Western United States, and Japan.

The Jealous Sound return with 'Got Friends'

With nearly a 5 year break, The Jealous Sound will return to the record business with Got Friends. Just a recap, in the case that you have forgotten, the above mentioned band is the work of former Knapsack singer Blair Shehan. By 2003, the band had released The Jealous Sound EP and a full length entitled Kill Them With Kindness.
In 2005, the band then announced that they had signed to The Militia Group to record a second full length record. A year later, Shehan mentioned that work was still under way. Fans, on the other hand, expected the worst and rumors of their breakup spreaded throughout.
Flash forward to just shy of two week ago, The Jealous Sound now claims that new material will see the light of day "real soon" and will go by the name of the Got Friends EP. The band has even released what seems to be the cover art of the release.
My guess is that a digital download release may be near.

RJD2 back at it again

It's been over a year since RJD2 brought more depth than ever before with his last record The Third Hand. The man has been keeping a bit quiet recently but finally broke out of the shadows the other day.
It seems he has been writing a song or two recently and is aiming for more concrete news on his fourth full-length record by the end of 2008...hopefully.
RJD2 has apparently parted ways with long time label Definite Jux.
