Walter and Rival Schools back in the studio

If you have at least an average sense of good music then you shoud be familar with the name Walter Schreifels. The man has behind such inspiration bands as Gorilla Biscuits and Quicksand and has most recently been the leader of Walking Concert. However, post-Quicksand and pre-Walking Concert came a fairly rockin' band entitled Rival Schools. Unfortuately the band only last about 4 years with an album and a plethora of tourdates to their name.
For those bitter about proposed second album was supposedly recorded but never released, you can now sit back and stop poutting. Rival Schools are apparently back in the saddle and our currently working their asses off in the studio. No word yet on whether or not they are recording a few tracks or an LP full. But nonetheless fans can finally rejoice.
Update on The Photo Atlas EP

According to their myspace page, The Photo Atlas' To Silently Provoke the Ghost street date has moved from March 3rd to new home on April 21st. The band has also released the final tracklisting for the 5-song EP.
To Silently Provoke the Ghost:
Class of 2012
Jealous Teeth
You Haven't Read Enough
Paper Trail
It's Always About the Money
It's Blitz! New YYY's album!

It's be out in the spring, so says the band.
New Metric Album (finally)!

Metric have been on hold for too many years, (although the wonderfully ambien-t solo release from Emily Haines quelled hearts) and their new album Fantasies finally drops on April 14th.
The best part is, if you live in the US, you will be buying the album directly from the band and there are plenty of formats to choose from,
'limited edition vinyl, deluxe hardcover CD and straight up download'..
Pop on over to their site and you can calm your beating heart with an acoustic version of 'Help I'm Alive' and peep video transmissions from Buenos Aires.
Either way, should be better than Live it Out.
2009 to bring new Frightened Rabbit record?

Alright don't get your panties in a crunch because nothing at all is solid yet, (come on it's only January) but according to the Frightened Rabbit's label Fat Cat Records, we can expect a new album from the Scots sometime this year.
In addition during an interview with drummer Grant Hutchinson over at Quart Life Crisis, he states that is brother Scott, the band's singer/songwriter, is going to take a month off in February to shut himself off and write the new record with hopes of getting recording underway in June.
