Cursive proclaims 'Mama, I'm Swollen' this March

Cursive has been on a bit of a lucky streak. There music has always been entertaining but with 2003's The Ugly Organ they really hit their stride with quite possibly their best record to date. Three years later brought yet another solid piece of music mastery with Happy Hallow. Now, March 10th will bring their latest opus, Mama, I'm Swollen.
Saddle Creek, the band's home for nearly all of their existence, have even released the final track listing for your viewing pleasure:
- In The Now
- From The Hips
- I Couldn't Love You
- Donkeys
- Caveman
- We're Going To Hell
- Mama, I'm Satan
- Let Me Up
- Mama, I'm Swollen
- What Have I Done?
808s & Heartbreak

I know this is quite late but I want the record to show that I tried to give this album a few chances. 'Maybe it's a grower' I thought after the first run through. 'Maybe I just don't get it' was my second excuse. After the third listen I wanted to poke my ears out.
This album was inevitable. After reinvigorating the rap game with three escalatingly awesome records, finally Mr. West's lack of humility caught up to him.
And like John Locke Kanye doesn't like it when you tell him what he can't do (like sing). Which is why we are stuck with these 10 turgid excuses for songs, one great M83 ripoff ('Streetlights') and one merely decent castoff ('Robocop'), although that song is about two minutes too long.
The real disappointment is the lack of forward thinking on Kanye's part. He's never been a great rapper or writer and all of his flaws are nakedly exposed on 808s, while his greatest talent, production, is so unimaginative it makes the album sound unfinished (you keep waiting for the hook to come but it never does). He's content to gaze lazily to the sides and grab whatever auto-tune is lying around, instead of staring straight ahead and inventing something new like he has on past releases.
Chalk it up to fatigue, heartbreak, the death of his mother, etc. Let's just hope he pulls it together for his return to rap this summer.

Obits blames you!

One of the most highly anticipated records of 2009, for me at least, is the debut of Obits the latest brainchild of Rick Froberg (Drive Like Jehu/Hot Snakes). While we already know that the album will be released by the lovely and amazing Sub Pop Records, the latest news is that the record now has a title and a release date.
I Blame You will hit record shelves on March 24th with the following track listing:
- Widow of My Dreams
- Pine On
- Fake Kinkade
- Two-Headed Coin
- Run
- I Blame You
- Talking to the Dog
- Light Sweet Crude
- Lilies in the Street
- SUD
- Milk Cow Blues
- Back and Forth
Look Mexico release video for 'Afraid of the Dark'

The Tallahassee, Florida gang known as Look Mexico have unleashed a cool little video to the masses for their single "You're Not Afraid of the Dark, Aren't You?" which can currently be found on the EP Gasp, Asp. Fans of Minus the Bear will thoroughly enjoy the song while admirers of the film Stand By Me will see the clear influence for the video.
The band, which is set to play the Harvest for Hope Fest in early March, has even taken the time to record a new track exclusively for the Bionic Ear Recording Session a new feature found on the website Indie Rock Reviews.
Look Mexico is also writing new music for their highly anticipated follow up to their first full length This is Animal Music.
