Walter Schreifels (Quicksand) to release solo record in April

That is right, boys and girls, good ol' Walter Schreifels from the legendary Quicksand, is set to release a solo record in April. Academy Fight Song will release An Open Letter To The Scene here in the states with Big Scary Monsters picking up the reins in the UK. To tide you over for a bit, Schreifels has already recorded a video for the track "Arthur Lee's Lullaby", which is a very satisfying gem if you ask me.

She & Him. Volume Two. March 23.

Okay, so I will admit that I was not too keen on She & Him's first release Volume One. However, I absolutely adore Zooey Deschanel (both as a musician and actor) and believe M. Ward to be a musical genius so I will let the first record slide. Their follow-up Volume Two features eleven original tracks and two covers "Ridin' In My Car" by NRBQ and Skeeter Davis' "Gonna Get Along Without You Now."

The tracklisting is as follows:

1. Thieves
2. In the Sun
3. Don't Look Back
4. Ridin' in My Car
5. Lingering Still
6. Me and You
7. Gonna Get Along Without You Now
8. Home
9. I'm Gonna Make It Better
10. Sing
11. Over It Over Again
12. Brand New Shoes
13. If You Can't Sleep

Spoon album cover revealed; Streets Jan. 19

What better way to return to daily updates to the site than with a bit of Spoon news. By now, most readers must know that their latest, Transference, hits the shelves January 19, 2010. This, however, is the first time my eyes have feasted on the album artwork and with most of their covers, it is indeed stunning. Make sure, if you haven't already, to pick up their limited 7 inch for the first single,Written in Reverse, which features the B-side Mean Red Spider. It is now available at the Merge Records Store.

Recorded over four years and six different studios, Parting Waves is the long-awaited debut album from Clemens. The full-length is the follow-up to their 2003 Resolutions EP. While the album is set to drop in a few weeks as a digital download, anxious ears can feast on their first single "The Hidden Staircase" now right here. A review is forthcoming so hold on tight.
